Chapter 8: Revolutionary Newspaper
Pick a person/event from Chapter 8 and write an article or other newspaper feature about that topic. Your task is to inform, entertain, or persuade on your topic. Remember your audience and what will appeal to them. You must use facts from the social studies book. Like always, if you use another source, you must give credit in your bibliography. We will work on this in class Tuesday/Wed. It is due on Thursday.

The events leading up to the Revolutionary War
How to find a newsworthy topic?
Proximity – events or situations that occur near the reader (imagine yourself in Boston)
Uniqueness – very unusual events or situations (What event/person left you with unanswered questions)
Impact – news that will affect a large number of readers (Who will benefit from reading this?)
Prominence – well-known people or groups of people (What person/organizations are widely known?)
Suspense – events, such as disasters, where the outcome is not known (What left you hanging at the end of the chapter?)
Conflict – people or groups opposing a situation or other groups of people (What conflict/battles occurred?)
Emotions – love, hate, fear, jealousy, horror, pity (How will you entertain people that will make them feel full of emtoion? Note, this does not always have to be laughter)
Progress – advances in science, medicine, or technology (What technology could you write about or advertise?)
Importance – important to the reader’s lives, family, education, health, or well-being (What do people at this time care about?)
